12 beings created the planet and filled it with oceans, mountains, and trees. These beings were:
1. Moradin, dwarf god of creation
2. Myrkul, god of death, created realm of Astarael
3. Lliira, goddess of joy (sister to Loviatar)
4. Loviatar, goddess of pain (sister to Lliira)
5. Savras, god/goddess of divination and fate
6. Helm, god of protection
7. Kelemvor, god of the dead
8. Lathander, god of birth and renewal
9. Sune, goddess of love and beauty
10. Silvanus, god of wild nature
11. Cyric, god of lies
12. Mystra, goddess of magic

11 of them wanted to make the races in existence now. Cyric did not. Moradin created the dwarves with the assistance of Helm, Kalemvor, Lathander, Llira, Loviatar, Myrkul, Sune, and Savras. Moradin tasked the dwarves to prepare for the other races by creating cities and homesteads.

Cyric wanted to enslave and destroy the dwarves and lay waste to the world. Eight gods, Moradin, Helm, Kelemvor, Lathander, Lliira, Loviatar, Sune, and Savras banded together and created arcane magic, sometimes referred to as the Charter, but were shackled to the limits the Charter incurred. The eight could not expand the charter but they managed to persuade Myrkul to help - he created the realm of death named Astarael. This allowed the charter to expand through the world.

Of the three gods who did not join in this creation, Cyric and Mystra joined together and slayed Kelemvor in a plane of existence the Charter had not yet reached. With access to free magic, Mystra turned Kelemvor's body and power into a book (The Book of the Dead) which syphoned power from the dead. With this power, Cyric and Mystra held the nine at bay until the remaining neutral member, Silvanus, intervened and distracted Mystra which forced her to lose concentration on the battle at hand. The Mystra was then split in two and buried somewhere in the land. Cyric went into hiding and, through deceit and trickery, has not been found since the Split.

Despite helping Moradin and his allies, Silvanus wanted to remain outside the charter but was instead enslaved and forced to serve the charter until freed by those deemed worthy.

The remaining eight gods who survived the battle, devoted themselves to the land, life, and blood of its inhabitants. Certain individuals in the world have been blessed by these deities and tasked with maintaining the balance first-established with the Split of Mystra.

Silvanus can be found roaming the material plane in various forms, both friendly and dangerous. Has gone by many names through the ages: Mogget, McClintock, Mailor, Sehanine Moonbow (to elves)
